UGONSA: Plateau State Chapter Meet, Set Up Caretaker Committee.

The Plateau state chapter of the University Graduates of Nursing Science Association (UGONSA) held its meeting today in Jos the plateau state capital, the meeting took place today at the conference hall, College of Nursing vom, Juth Campus.

The meeting was chaired by Mr. Mustapha Garba, UGONSA PRO, Northern Region and a staff of Federal University Kashere.

Mr. Mustapha welcomed members and thanked them for creating time out of their tight schedules to attend the meeting, he then read out agenda for the meeting

Members took out time to introduce themselves followed by an update on progress so far by Mr. Garba, Mr. Kizito and Mr. Dajwal.  Members  decried how graduate nurses in plateau state are being treated as second class citizens in the state, they all lamented how retirees are preferred to graduate nurses as lecturers, how the management of college of nursing and midwifery vom  do turn down youth corpers send to the school among others.

The maltreatment of Nurses serving in Plateau state specialist hospital against other specialist is a thing of concern, a situation which was suppose to be handle by the Head of Nurses but to no avail.

It was also observe the whopping sum of #380,000;00 each retiree earned at college of Nursing can employ 3 gradautes, a situation which the national body wrote the Governor but the letter got trapped by some power that be.

The association's constitution, I'd card form, registration processes was explain and handed over to to the chapter by Mr Garba Mustapha.

A caretaker committee was set up to plan for elections while trying to solve the existing problems in collaboration with the Northern and national body.

The caretaker committee members include;

1. Mr Dajwal Jidauna as chairman. From College of Nursing Vom.

2. Mrs Ubah Sandra from Government House Clinic as member.

3. Mr. Reuben Gwott as member from JUTH.

4. Mr.Kahan Barnabas as member from Plateau State Specialist Hospital.

5. Mr. Ndak Kizito as Secratary from Hospitals Management board Jos.

Members also decried the  exclusion of Nurses from the recent advert for interns in JUTH which it intends to inform the national body to write the Federal Ministry of Health.

Members thanked the Director of Nursing Mr. Danlami Sambo who allowed them used the college hall, special thanks also to the board chairman and other well wishers who has been supportive all the while.

As part of the decision elections will soon be conducted in a space of a month or two.
