The National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) , Plateau state chapter has called on federal, and state government to urgently look into keep areas affecting Nursing and the health industry in the state and country as a whole.
Speaking at the public lecture to mark the year of the Nurse, the NANNM chairman Plateau state Comrade Nurse Briskila Dabit, made key demands which government must put in place to facilitate uptimum service delivery to those in need.
Bellow is her speech

"I am happy and full of joy to have witnessed this great event. As we all know, the year 2020 was declared by World Health Organization as year of the Nurse and midwife, we started the celebration yesterday with a press conference and later paid a visit to CLAPAI orphanage where we donated food items and toiletries to help take care of the children.
As we continue today's event with lectures on carefully selected topics and guest speakers with verse experience in the chosen topics. I urge us all to pay rapt attention to the lectures.
The National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midiwves, Plateau State Council Share in the pain of the stress our colleagues are passing through as a result of shortage of human resources, we urge the Government to.

1. Direct Plateau state Specialist Hospital and Hospitals Management Board to start recruiting Intern Nurses.

3. The Ministry of Health should liaise with the leadership of NYSC in plateau state to enable them post more youth corpers to our Health Institutions from Primary to tertiary institutions.

4. I also plead with the National Council on Establishment through our Union friendly Head of Service to kindly review the entry point of graduate Nurses to be at par with their counterparts in Pharmacy and Medical Lab science who all spent 7years in training.

Further more, we urge those in the academics and University Health Services to consider joining NANNM. Similarly, we appeal to the military and paramilitary authorities to amend their policy to allow Nurses in their organization to join NANNM in order to benefit from our laudable programs. Our strength is in our unity.

As we continue with this celebration, I wish us journey mercy as we plan to go back to our various stations. To those who could not make it to the event because of our work schedule, I want you to know that we are together.
As a mark of respect to our heroes who were infected with COVID-19, permit me to call on few of them as NANNM wants to appreciate them.
Once more we thank the World Health Organization for cellebratting us
God bless all Nurses across the globe.
Thank you.

Graduate Nurses Carpets Plateau State Government.

The Plateau state chapter of the University Graduates of Nursing Science Association (UGONSA) at its meeting  held today in Jos, the Plateau state capital, decried the maltreatment of Graduates of Nursing Science working in state owned hospitals and tertiary institutions. Chairman of the meeting Mr. Mustapha Garba, UGONSA Public Relations Officer, Northern Region and a staff of Federal University Kashere, earlier thanked the state government for creating the enabling environment for its members to operate but was quick to point out that a lot needed to be done. The meeting seriously frowned at how Graduate Nurses in Plateau state are being treated as second class citizens in the state, among issues that members raised included: 1. Re-engagement of retirees at the expense of fresh Graduate Nurses as lecturers. It was  observed that a whopping sum of #380,000;00 each retiree earned at college of Nursing can employ 3 graduates who are more productive as all the retirees level of...
